The cost of Love And Marriage: New survey reveals on average Irish couples spend a whopping €22k on their wedding day




According to a recent the cost of an average Irish wedding has risen significantly over the past year.

The latest survey found that Irish couples spend in the region of €22,531, on their big day. The rather large figure is up 6% from last year.
The figures which covers wedding venue, reception and honeymoon were complied when weddingsonline.ie, surveyed 2,000 people last month. The survey also found that 28% of people take out a loan to pay for the big day, whilst 22% share the costs with their parents.

The survey found that the average price per person attending an Irish wedding is €61, whilst 45% of people spend more than €60 per guest. It was also revealed that 77% of couples prefer cash as a wedding gift, whilst Saturday still remains the most popular day for couples to get married.

While unsurprisingly of the couples surveyed a 90% said they would choose to honeymoon abroad.
